Dapoli being a coastal town fishing is one of the most important businesses. There are numerous fishing villages but we have tried to list a few with a tourist perspective
Harnai port is the main fishing village. Every evening hundreds of fishing boats come back after fishing and gather to auction their catch. The fish auction is the essential trade step between fish landings and the trade. Business worth lakhs of rupees is carried out daily between 4 pm to 7 pm. Witnessing the fish auctions here is a awe inspiring experience and you could also hitch a ride in a bullock cart here!!
Harnai port should be one of the essential part of any Dapoli vacation not just for the auctions. You could vist the Kanakdurg fort with a lighthouse offering splendid views of the ocean Suvarnadurg fort and the fishing village. You can also visit the historic Suvarnadurg fort from here and enjoy a boat ride too!
Dabhol Fishing Jetty
Dabhol is another fishing jetty in Dapoli where you can even indulge in a bit of fishing yourself. The Dabhol creek meets the sea here and you could hire a boat for a ride down the creek and test your fishing skills.
You could also visit Anjanvel another fishing village across the creek and visit the Gopalgad fort too.
Burundi Fishing Village
Burundi the village next to Ladghar is the second biggest fishing village after Harnai. Here you would be able to see hundreds of small fishing boats going about its business. In the evening the twinkling lights in the dinghies present a pretty picture for the onlooker especially from the Ladghar beach.
Most of the boats that take tourists for dolphin watching rides are from this small village of Burundi and you could get a 1-2 hr ride for just 200-250 Rs per person however spotting a dolphin purely depends on your luck.
